Tips for Spacing Out Your Milestones
Not sure what percentages to use for milestone placement? Here are some tried and true tips to help.
Tip 1: Evenly space out milestones along your racetrack.
As a best practice, you'll want to space out your milestones evenly across the Racetrack so there's always something fun to unlock along the way. Divide 100 by the the number of milestones you have to find out the approximate equal spacing between each milestone.
For example, if you have 8 milestones, you'll divide 100 by 8 to get 12.5. Each milestone should be approximately 12.5% away from the next to space out evenly (Milestone 1: 12.5%, Milestone 2: 25% etc.)
Tip 2: Include at least one milestone for each scene in your racetrack.
In addition to evenly spacing out your milestones along your racetrack, you'll also want to make sure that there's at least one milestone for each scene. As the scenes in the racetrack unfold, you'll want your participants to have something to look forward to every step of the way. If you're not sure where to start, an easy rule of thumb is to include as many milestones as you have scenes in your racetrack.
For example, if you have 6 individual scenes in your racetrack, aim for at least 6 milestones. Position them so that you're including at least one milestone per scene.
